Tour Day by Day Itinerary

Day 1: Londorosi Gate (2,250m) to Mti Mkubwa Camp (2,820m)

  • Hiking Distance: 7 km (3–4 hours)
  • Habitat: Rainforest

Your adventure begins with a drive from Moshi or Arusha to Londorosi Gate, where you’ll complete registration before heading to the Lemosho trailhead. The trek starts with a gentle walk through dense rainforest, home to Colobus monkeys and vibrant birdlife.

You’ll arrive at Mti Mkubwa Camp (“Big Tree Camp”), where you’ll settle in for your first night on the mountain.


Day 2: Mti Mkubwa Camp (2,820m) to Shira 1 Camp (3,500m)

  • Hiking Distance: 8 km (5–6 hours)
  • Habitat: Moorland

Leaving the rainforest behind, you’ll ascend into the moorland zone, following trails with stunning views of Shira Ridge. The vegetation becomes sparser, and the landscape opens up.

You’ll reach Shira 1 Camp, where you’ll enjoy spectacular sunset views over the plateau.


Day 3: Shira 1 Camp (3,500m) to Shira 2 Camp (3,900m)

  • Hiking Distance: 7 km (3–4 hours)
  • Habitat: Moorland

Today’s trek is a short but important acclimatization hike across the Shira Plateau, with panoramic views of Mawenzi and Kibo Peaks.

You’ll arrive at Shira 2 Camp, where you’ll rest and prepare for higher altitudes.


Day 4: Shira 2 Camp (3,900m) to Lava Tower (4,630m) to Arrow Glacier Camp (4,870m)

  • Hiking Distance: 10 km (6–8 hours)
  • Habitat: Alpine Desert

Today, you’ll follow the “climb high, sleep low” strategy by ascending to Lava Tower (4,630m), where you’ll have lunch and experience high altitude before trekking further to Arrow Glacier Camp (4,870m).

This is your final stop before tackling the Western Breach Wall, offering a breathtaking view of Kilimanjaro’s glaciers.


Day 5: Arrow Glacier Camp (4,870m) to Crater Camp (5,730m) via Western Breach

  • Hiking Distance: 6 km (6–8 hours)
  • Habitat: Arctic

Today is the most difficult and technical day of the climb. You’ll ascend the Western Breach, a steep and rocky climb that requires scrambling over boulders and loose scree. This non-traditional ascent is the most challenging and technical section of Kilimanjaro.

You’ll reach Crater Camp (5,730m), the highest campsite on Kilimanjaro, where you’ll sleep near the glaciers and the famous Furtwängler Glacier.


Day 6: Crater Camp (5,730m) to Uhuru Peak (5,895m) to Barafu Camp (4,640m)

  • Hiking Distance: 10 km (7–9 hours)
  • Habitat: Arctic (summit), Alpine Desert (descent)

Wake up to a breathtaking sunrise over Kilimanjaro’s glaciers, then take a short trek to Uhuru Peak (5,895m), the highest point in Africa! 🎉

After celebrating at the summit, you’ll begin your descent via Barafu Camp, where you’ll rest for the night.


Day 7: Barafu Camp (4,640m) to Mweka Camp (3,100m)

  • Hiking Distance: 9 km (5–6 hours)
  • Habitat: Moorland

The descent continues through the alpine desert and moorland to Mweka Camp, where you’ll enjoy a final night on the mountain.


Day 8: Mweka Camp (3,100m) to Mweka Gate (1,630m)

  • Hiking Distance: 10 km (3–4 hours)
  • Habitat: Rainforest

The final stretch takes you back through the lush rainforest to Mweka Gate, where you’ll receive your Kilimanjaro climbing certificate.

A private transfer will take you back to Moshi or Arusha, where you can celebrate your incredible achievement!
